The Butler Transit Authority will begin negotiations with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation next month to determine new standards and targets for their commuter service to Pittsburgh.
A revision is necessary due to modifications to the routes that have been made since the previous standards were established to determine if the service is considered a success after three years.
PennDOT has submitted their new proposed standards while consultants Delta Development, who were hired by the authority last month, work to analyze available data to offer a counter proposal. The negotiation process will take place electronically or over the phone.
According to Authority Executive Director John Paul, the service has experienced “slow but steady growth” in ridership over the summer months. He went on to say that hopefully the new standards will be finalized soon after negotiations take place.
