The Butler Transit Authority is reacting to the recent death of one of their drivers, who passed away due to COVID.
The transit authority said in a statement that 38-year-old Adam Fry showed up to work on September 17th, however starting feeling sick and was immediately taken off his shift.
According to his obituary, he was later admitted to Butler Memorial Hospital where he died from complications due to COVID.
The transit authority says that masks are required on all buses and that they have taken all efforts to ensure the safety of their drivers and passengers.
Transit officials have also noted that Fry was an employee of their subcontractor MV Transportation. They also issued a statement saying they are deeply saddened at the death of one of their team members.
However, MV Transportation does not have a vaccine requirement for their workers, but say they strongly encourage their drivers to be vaccinated. According to family members, Fry was not currently vaccinated, but was planning on getting it soon.
Neither Butler Transit or MV Transportation have confirmed that it was an outbreak of COVID that knocked out a significant number of drivers forcing all local routes to shut down.
