The Butler Transit Authority will resume regular local service routes beginning Friday.
Effective May 1st, Route 5 will return to service and local buses will operate at normal service hours.
All local bus trips will continue to be free until Butler County is given a green designation by state administrators. Commuter service to Pittsburgh remains suspended until Allegheny County receives a green designation as well.
The Authority recently purchased 1,200 KN95 masks at a total cost of just over $3,500. The Authority also received 2,000 surgical masks from PennDOT along with bus cleaning liquid at no cost. The Authority is waiting to receive hand sanitizer that they previously ordered.
BTA has requested $143,000 from the federal government to offset costs and lost fares due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
