Administrators believe that the 2023 Butler Township budget can once again be balanced using existing anticipated revenue.
Butler Township administrators and department heads presented their needs to the commissioners Wednesday night as part of the annual budget meeting.
According to Township manager Tom Knights, the size of the budget is expected to increase by nearly $400,000 to just over $8.3 million which is nearly 5% more than last year’s budget. This figure does not include about $1 million in pass-through money from the capital reserve fund.
Budgetary expenses include two new police vehicles, as well as at least one truck for use by the road and parks departments. The costs of many items and utilities have continued to increase this year.
The commissioners will pass a preliminary 2023 budget with a vote later this month before finalizing the plan for next year in December.
