The Butler Township Commissioners have approved a plan for a housing development in the Highfield area.
After hearing from a representative for the developer of the 39 acre Highfield Trails plan on South Duffy and Highfield Roads, the commissioners gave preliminary approval for a cluster plan of 100 units as well as final approval for phase one of that plan which is 75 single family homes.
The approval was given with several conditions including compliance with the most recent letter from the Township’s engineer, solicitor approval, a developer’s agreement, and bond. Construction on phase one is expected to begin in July and could continue for two to three years depending on how quickly homes are sold.
According to legal representation of the developer, no decision has yet been made about appealing the decision of the Butler Township Zoning Board regarding a plan that would put 113 units on the property.
