Butler Township could soon enact a new policy that would allow for the municipal volunteer fire department to recover some expenses.
Director of Emergency Services Scott Frederick introduced a Recoupment of Services ordinance that would bill insurance companies whenever the department has to use certain apparatus or equipment.
This is a common ordinance that many other municipalities have in place to help pay for items like flares and oil absorbent materials. This would only apply to responses by the Butler Township Fire Department to emergencies within the Township borders.
This ordinance will next be advertised for a period of 30 days and is scheduled to be the subject of a public hearing scheduled for August 15th at 7 p.m. at the Butler Township Municipal Building.
