The mayor of the City of Butler has mounted a write-in campaign for re-election.
Butler City Mayor Tom Donaldson officially announced Friday during a live interview on WISR 680AM that he is encouraging voters to write him in on the fall ballot.
Local businessman Ben Smith won the Republican nomination with 53 percent of the vote in May’s primary election. Smith will appear on the general election ballot along with Democratic candidate Jamie Goehring.
Since Donaldson- a republican- only won 32 percent of the vote in the primary and did not secure the party’s nomination, voters who wish to see him serve a second term will need to write in his name on their ballot.
The fall election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 7.
