Caitlyn Marie Kaufman, 26, of Lebanon, Tennessee, formerly of Chicora, died tragically on December 3, 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee. Caitlyn’s loved ones mourn the unexpected loss of their daughter, sister, and friend.
She was born to Rick and Diane Onufrak Kaufman on May 12 1994 in Butler.
Caitlyn was a 2012 graduate of Butler High School. She continued her education at Clarion University, graduating in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, and in 2018 she received a nursing degree from Butler County Community College. In addition to her scholastic achievements, Caitlyn was a collegiate athlete, diving on the Clarion University dive team for four years.
She worked as an intensive care nurse at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville for two years. Caitlyn was an exceptional nurse, receiving in her first year two Daisy Awards for Extraordinary Nursing in acknowledgment of her commitment, talent, and compassion as a nurse.
She was loved by many, and anyone who knew Caitlyn knew that she was selfless and kind. She loved spending time outdoors with her family, friends, and dog, Zeus, waterskiing, lake surfing, and “buggy” riding. She was a constant source of positivity and truly lit up a room with her presence. Caitlyn’s family and friends will miss her more than words can say, but she will remain in their hearts forever.
Caitlyn is survived by her mother, Diane Kaufman, and her father, Rick Kaufman, of Chicora; her brother Tyler Kaufman and his fiancée Alysa Lovich, of Valencia; and her chosen Tennessee family: Macey and Andrew Martin, Morgan Vallett, Cade Brown, and Matt and John, all of Lebanon, TN.
She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Butler, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Caitlyn’s memory can be made to a scholarship for students pursuing a nursing degree at Butler County Community College.
