The calls for the release of a Butler native from a Russian prison are continuing to grow as his mother marks a milestone birthday.
Marc Fogel has been held in a Russian state prison for the last two-and-a-half years following an arrest with possessing medical marijuana.
Today, his mother Malphine celebrates her 95th birthday.
To coincide with that, IUP’s President Dr. Michael Driscoll issued a statement calling Fogel’s arrest “unconscionable.” He also joined with lawmakers asking the Biden Administration to call Fogel as “wrongfully detained.”
Fogel is an IUP alum who was teaching in Russia during the time of his arrest.
