You may see canned cocktails in stores sooner rather than later.
After passing the bipartisan legislation, permits are now being granted for places like beer distributors, grocery stores, and gas stations to sell “ready-to-drink” cocktails.
Previously, the canned cocktails were only sold in state liquor stores.
Business must submit a $2,500 application in order to sell the drinks, but permits started being awarded yesterday. The canned cocktails must not be over 16 ounces and cannot have a alcohol content higher than 12.5 percent.
Also, it became official last week for bars and restaurants to extend their happy hours.
