The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 last night. Bryan De La Cruz provided the Pirates only run, with a solo home run in the second inning. It was his 20th home run of the season, but only his second as a Pirate. Rookie second baseman Nick Yorke had three hits in his second game as a Pirate. Bailey Falter allowed two earned runs while pitching into the sixth inning and took the loss. His record is now 8-8.
The Bucs and Cards play again tonight at 7:45pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:20pm.
The Pirates are expected to start right-hander Jake Woodward, who is 0-6 this season with an 8.01 ERA.
The Pirates have been officially eliminated from the post-season.
