Carl E. Reiss, Jr., 84, of Butler, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot, PA.
Born February 1, 1937, in East McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late Carl E. Reiss, Sr. and Margaret (Kavran) Reiss.
He was a Veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Carl was employed as a skilled master mechanic at W L Roenigk Inc where he worked on diesel engines, busses, cars, and farm equipment until his retirement.
Carl was a valued member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Butler, where he served as an Elder and an Usher as well as a treasured member of his church community. He enjoyed gardening, car shows, working puzzles, playing bingo, traveling, tinkering with small engines and car repairs, and the outdoors. He was also an avid Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan.
Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Barbara (Krabill) Reiss who(m?) he married on February 28, 1987; her children, Angel (of Virginia); Suzanne (Bill), and Jack, all of Butler; one brother: William “Bill” (Karen) Reiss of Allentown, PA; grandchildren, step grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three daughters to a previous marriage, a stepson, and a stepdaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson: Daniel; and a sister: Anna Marie.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 11:00 – 1:00 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
A funeral service will be held following the visitation on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 1:00PM with Pastor Carmen Shullo, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be made in Butler County Memorial Park.
