If you have questions about COVID-19 or the variants, you’ll have an opportunity to meet world-renowned virus researchers and get your questions answered at the Carnegie Science Center.
Meet a virologist, an immunologist, an infectious disease doctor, and more from the University of Pittsburgh Center for Vaccine Research on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 10am-2pm.
Learn about the parts of COVID, from the number of spike proteins to the virus genome, about herd immunity and why it’s important, and the need to continue being creative in vaccinology.
A free showing of CHASING COVID will be shown in the Rangos Giant Cinema at various times, which is film that takes viewers inside the biocontainment laboratories in the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Vaccine Research where teams have been working collaboratively with scientists around all the world to unlock the secrets of COVID-19 and find ways to defeat this virus.
Activities run from 10 am–2 pm and are free to the public. Free tickets for CHASING COVID are provided at the Science Center’s Ticket Counter in the Main Lobby on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. Admission to the Science Center’s exhibit galleries requires the purchase of a General Admission ticket.
In addition to the in-person event, the Science Center is hosting a lunchtime installment of their Vaccine Speaker Series on Tues., Aug. 10 at noon via a Facebook Live. The free, virtual event features a vaccine expert, pediatrician, and a science advocate.
Again, all activities for the Sat., Aug. 14 event run from 10 am–2 pm and are free to the public.
