The Carnegie Science Center is asking the public for help as they begin a campaign to refurbish their miniature railroad and village.
The 100th Anniversary campaign to support upkeep of the beloved exhibit kicks off today with a goal of raising $30,000 through online donations.
Contributions will allow for the Science Center to refresh the gallery with new carpeting, fresh paint, updated signage, a new entrance video, and LED lighting. This project will also include the online digitization of the Miniature Railroad’s extensive archive as well as the publication of a limited edition centennial book detailing the history of the exhibit.
Different levels of giving have different benefits with a donation of $10 resulting in a commemorative miniature railroad postcard while a $2,500 contribution includes two custom miniature figures painted in the donor or a loved-one’s likeness placed in the railroad village for 10 years.
