Carol “Joyce” McIlvain, 82, of Butler passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024. She was born in Butler on June 24, 1941 to the late Arthur and Olive (Gibson) Emery. Joyce graduated from Butler High School in 1959 and worked at the Butler County Assistance Office until she retired in 2004. She was known for her love of all Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Penguins; her favorite player being Sidney Crosby. Joyce was active and kept a meticulous home where she prepared Sunday dinners for her family. She was loved and will be forever missed. Mother of Steve Jackson, Cherly (Tim) Watt, John McIlvain, and Shawn McIlvain; sister of Janice Gerner and Brenda Million; grandmother to Caitlin (Jake) Lauer and Kristen Watt; great grandmother to Wes and Piper Lauer. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John McIlvain in 1997, who she married in 1968; her siblings Dale Emery, Arthur Emery Jr., Joann Everette, Donald Emery and Francis Emery.
