Carol (Mahood) Israel, 65, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born August 6, 1958, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late James P. “Rex” Mahood and the late Caroline (Milliron) Mahood.
Carol was a 1976 graduate of Butler High School, and then went on to attend Butler County Community College where she earned her LPN. She worked as an LPN and caregiver for Sunnyview Nursing Home for 17 years, and later owned Hillside from 1995-2005. Carol was a longtime member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Butler where she proudly served as an Elder and Deacon. She was devoted to volunteering and serving others, whether it was with the Area Agency on Aging as an ombudsman, a patient advocate, or with St. Andrew Presbyterian Church Community Dinners.
Carol is survived by two sisters, Susan (Bob Barone) Mahood of Pittsburgh and Cynthia “Cindy” (Dean) Collins of Franklin; her brother, James “Jim” Mahood of Butler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate Carol’s life on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001 with Pastor Merry Meloy officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
