It is a Friday in Lent, but Catholics do have the permission to enjoy an Irish dish with meat.
Bishop David Zubik said because St. Patrick’s Day is an important holiday for those in the Pittsburgh area, Catholics have dispensation from the obligation to abstain from meat on this Friday.
That means you can enjoy a corned beef and cabbage dish if you’d like.
However, Bishop Zubik also says that you should conduct another act of Lenten discipline today.
