An event to mark the official completion of a recreation project in Cranberry Township is planned for this weekend.
A dedication ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday for a championship-level, 18-hole disc golf course in Cranberry’s North Boundary Park. This project also includes a separate six-hole, “learn-to-play” circuit and a two-mile nature trail. The project was the Cranberry Township Community Chest’s 2018 Project of the Year.
Construction took place on 70 acres of a wooded area along the western edge of the park. The course is nationally sanctioned to host tournaments as one of the world’s longest and most challenging. Each hole in the course has three different concrete tee pads, much like a conventional golf course, to allow play for those at every level of the game, including the long-throw championship level.
This project was a joint effort between Cranberry Township and the Cranberry Township Community Chest.
