Charles “Bud” S. Williams, 94, who resided in West Sunbury and Butler, for over 55 years, died January 21, 2022 with his wife, Jane (Waldenmyer) by his side in La Quinta, CA.
As a teenager, Bud loved spending weekends at their family summer home in West Sunbury. Bud first saw Jane singing in the church choir and fell in love. They were married for 74 years. Bud said he learned to be a man during his summers in West Sunbury, therefore, he chose to raise his three daughters there. Bud graduated from Slippery Rock State Teachers’ College in 1949. He started his teaching career in Pittsburgh, followed by Moniteau and Butler School Districts. As a coach of football and gymnastics, Bud built life-long relationships with some of his athletes and treasured these friendships. After he retired from teaching, Bud became an avid and passionate golfer.
Bud belonged to Victory Lodge, the Esquire Club, the Butler Elks, Armco Golf Club, St. Jude Golf Club, the Tri-State Quarter Horse Association and the Tuesday Breakfast Therapy group.
Surviving are his wife, Jane; two daughters, Dawne (Larry) Blazevich and Jody Williams; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marie Williams and his eldest daughter, Suzanne Carnevale.
A celebration of life will be held in June. Bud loved visiting the Butler Library, often reading five books a week. Therefore, the family requests any memorial donations be made in his name to the Butler Library, 218 N. McKean St. Butler, PA 16001.
