Charles “Chuck” R. Thompson, 92, of Butler, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice following a struggle with heart disease with his niece Sandy by his side.
He was born February 27, 1925 in Butler, the son of the late Ralph S. and Christina (Eisenporn) Thompson. Chuck graduated from Butler High School. He retired from Dravo as an inspector. He was a wounded veteran receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star and many other medals during WWII. He was a member of St Paul’s Roman Catholic Church and Thorn Creek United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion and loved fishing. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his sons, Ronald Thompson of Glenshaw and Douglas Thompson of Butler; a niece, Sandy Gallagher and her children, Joey (Joanna) Gallagher and Tammy Gallagher and her fiance, Dan Fierst; two nephews, Terry (Dee) Bachman and family and Daryl (Robin) Bachman and family; a nephew-in-law, Michael (Patty) Selfridge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Thompson whom he married August 6, 1947 and who died November 12, 2006 and his sister, Irma “Sis” (Thompson) Bachman.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on ,Tuesday, September 19th 11 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM with Pastor Mary Jo Gould of Thorn Creek United Methodist Church.
Entombment in the Greenlawn Burial Estates. Military Honors at cemetery.
