Charles Edward Olen, age 86, formerly of Prospect, passed away in The Grove at Harmony Care Home on Wednesday August 2, 2023, with his family by his side.
Born October 28, 1936 in Butler, he was the son of the late Alex and Anna Martinyak Olen.
He was a member of the Mt Nebo Presbyterian Church.
Chuck was an honorably discharged Korean War Veteran of the US Navy, who proudly served from 1954 to 1957 in the Atlantic Fleet.
He retired from the Butler VA Medical Center, where he had worked for 32 years in the engineering department.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #778 and the NARFE, National Association Retired Federal Employees, the Butler Chapter.
In his younger years, he bowled with the VA bowling league, he also enjoyed fishing locally and in Florida. He loved his family and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his stepson Scott E. (Beverly) McKinney of Prospect, and his grandchildren Gina McKinney of Prospect and Clayton McKinney of Amherst, NY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Juanita “Jean” Olen, who he married April 19, 1969 and who passed away on January 10, 2013; stepson James A. McKinney; two brothers John A. Olen and Steve A. Olen; two sisters Ann Schaffer and Mary Gryster.
Per his request, private services were held at the Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, pc., 387 Main Street, Prospect.
Interment with military honors were in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Evans City.
