Cherie C. Freeland, 90, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 12, 2017.
She was born June 18, 1927 in Sturgeon, Pennsylvania to the late Lawrence McCaffery and the late Cherie Bennet McCaffery.
In her early years, Cherie worked as an elementary school teacher at Holy Innocents in Pittsburgh, PA, St. Gertrudes Catholic School in Vandergrift, PA, and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Kittaning, PA. She retired in June 1995 from being a case worker for the Butler County Assistance Office.
She is survived by her one son, Richard Freeland and his wife Rose of Butler, PA; one daughter, Cherie A. Freeland and her companion Kevin McCauley of Butler, PA; one grandson, Matthew Richard Freeland and his wife Britney of Butler, PA; one great-grand-daughter, Madeline Lee Freeland; one brother, Bernard McCaffery and his wife Mary Ann of Mingo Junction, OH.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Butler, PA. Following the memorial mass, guests are invited to come to a reception to celebrate of her life at her daughter’s residence at 120 Shady Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
