An event tomorrow will remember George Washington’s trip through Butler County that happened over 270 years ago.
The Cherry Pie Hike is an annual tradition held near Washington’s Birthday. Multiple hikes are scheduled throughout the day at the Jennings Environmental Center.
The Cherry Pie Hike takes visitors back to Washington’s journey through Butler County in 1753 as he worked his way from Virginia to Fort LeBoeuf in Erie.
“Butler has a tremendous history which is really overlooked by most historians,” Martin O’Brien, founder of the Washington Trail 1753 organization said.
Registration is closed for the Cherry Pie Hike, but there are some spots available. Interested hikers can visit the Jennings Environmental Center tomorrow to learn more.
