A Chicora girl was treated to a red carpet experience over the weekend thanks to an area nonprofit.
“Superheroes Believe in Miracles” helps children facing illness, disability, or limitations and every year they make a calendar that features the children dressed up as their favorite superhero.
And this year’s calendar includes Elizabeth Haldwelder of Chicora, who suffers from ZTTK—which is a rare and severe multisystem disease that causes developmental delays.
Elizabeth was one of the first six cases ever diagnosed in the world.
However, she continues to persevere through the constant doctor visits and hospitalizations. She’s described as “a spitfire and lover of hugs and music, especially from The Beatles.
On Saturday, she was treated to a red carpet experience at her home in Chicora surrounded by family and friends ahead of her appearance in the 2021 calendar.
