The special needs child who fell out of a second-story window in Butler Township Wednesday evening is expected to make a full recovery.
Police Chief John Hays told our newsroom, “Luckily, the child is definitely doing better. We talked to the parents Thursday and he has a small skull fracture and a tear near the eardrum but should make a full recovery.”
The 5-year-old child, who has Down syndrome, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and then flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Police and other agencies are still investigating how the child was somehow able to open the window inside his Center Avenue apartment and fall, but charges are not expected to be filed.
The apartment was one of several inside the home.
