Even though artificial Christmas Trees have cut into the market, live trees are still selling at a high level.
That was especially the case this past weekend according to Aaron Grau, executive director of the Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association.
“Anecdotally, I heard from growers that this was one of the bigger weekends of the year. It was almost akin to the last hurrah before Christmas,” Grau said. “I think a lot of the growers were trying to move as many trees as possible.”
But, if you purchased a live Christmas Tree, you probably noticed that they were a bit pricier this year.
“Inflation impacts the cost of tools and equipment for farm, it impacts the cost of fertilizer and pesticides for farms. Those costs unfortunately get absorbed and have to be passed on,” Grau said.
If you did purchase a live Christmas Tree, Grau says to make sure you keep the tree regularly watered.
