A church in Saxonburg will give people a special peak at their historic stained glass windows and organ this evening.
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church- located at the corner of Main and State streets- will conduct tours between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. as part of tonight’s “Mingle On Main” event in Saxonburg.
The church says the stained glass windows were given as inspiration by various families and church groups in 1947. Pastor Roger Keller will explain the gospel stories behind the windows- which are dedicated to well-known Saxonburg names such as Bachman, Knoch, Cooper, Freehling and Bicker.
The two-manual Moller pipe organ was dedicated in April 1929, and rebuilt in 1977. The organ has pipes measuring in length from three inches to 16 feet.
St. Luke’s is celebrating its 150th year in Saxonburg.
The church will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday during the Mingle on Main event, in addition to a sneak peek preview of the annual rummage sale at Centennial Hall.
