The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler is moving forward with repairs at a downtown building containing rental apartments.
The recent rental rehab work at 330 Virginia Avenue includes the awarding of a contract to replace kitchen cabinets to local contractor Brian Kennedy. A contract for bathroom reconstruction will be sent out for bid again after both bids received came in over a state set limit.
Painting and ceiling tile replacement is also taking place. Other work still to be done includes a new roof, porch, doors, windows, steps, hot water heaters, electric wiring, floors, registers, and smoke detectors.
The money to pay for this work comes from a $500,000 PHARE grant through an application filed last year with the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Fund. The authority owns six apartments in that building.
