The City of Butler has accepted a bid from a company to clean out Sullivan Run following persistent flooding.
An agreement is now in place with Bauer Excavating. They will do the work for $19,500. Two bids were received for the project and this is a similar amount to what the city has paid to have this service done in the past.
This project is expected to take place in the next four to five weeks and will clean out the sediment to allow for improved water flow and volume.
The city continues to wait for state approval of a larger $4 million Department of Environmental Protection Sullivan Run Project expected to begin next year that officials say would greatly reduce the frequency of flooding.
Earlier this month, Butler’s West End neighborhood was hit with powerful rainfall, which flooded a portion of West Brady Street. Two years ago, Butler’s West End was hit hard with heavy rain leaving many residents with several feet of water in their basements.
