The new Butler City Police Department K-9 officers will have new bullet proof vests when they join the force.
Two vests will be purchased thanks to a recent $2,000 donation from Diehl Automotive Group.
Butler City Police Chief Bob O’Neill said the dogs are still undergoing training and have not been cleared to join the force yet but that is expected to happen in the near future.
Diehl previously donated $9,000 towards the cost of 19 new vests for all the human police officers last February.
