Butler City Council could soon be ready to take action on replacing city-owned vehicles.
Council held a special workshop Monday to discuss how to replace the four police cruisers, the fire department ladder truck and the street department vehicles that are all in need of immediate repair or replacement.
One option that was discussed was a lease program. Reps from First National Bank said they would work with the city to replace vehicles as needed and payments could be deferred until 2019.
It’s estimated each police cruiser will cost about $40,000 each. A new aerial ladder truck could cost close to $1 million.
The city of Butler has been struggling financially for several years.
