Butler City Council is exploring alternatives to the current arrangement of how those big banners are hung across North Main Street Hill.
Mayor Ben Smith explained during a council meeting Thursday that Armstrong has been donating their time for years to hang the banners, but will no longer be able to continue to do so.
The city doesn’t have the equipment and can’t afford to pay another company for this service. Also, officials say it’s simply not safe to allow people to try to hang their own banners.
The city is considering designating a contractor who would be the company that people interested in having banners hung would speak to and pay a set fee for the service.
No action is being taken at this time but city officials say all alternatives are being considered.
