Butler City Police continue to undertake training to benefit residents and the department during emergency situations.
Chief Bob O’Neill recently informed Butler City Council that officers recently completed week-long Crisis Intervention Training. 70% of City officers have completed this free training over the past four years to help improve situations of people dealing with mental health issues.
Chief O’Neill and the three other Butler City Police officers that belong to the Emergency Service Unit team completed a day of training last week in Pittsburgh with other ESU teams from the State Police, Butler County, and around the region. ESU teams function similarly to SWAT.
O’Neill pointed out the benefits of both training experiences and mentioned examples of situations in which the training helps.
