An event is being held Thursday that aims to inform senior residents about scams that are circulating.
Butler City Police are hosting the informational session tomorrow evening at St. Michael the Archangel Church on Center Avenue.
City Police Chief Bob O’Neill says that there are so many different schemes these days that it’s important for seniors to know how they’re being targeted.
“There are a variety of different scams that come into not only our office, but other offices. They come via the mail, email, different applications like Facebook and phone calls. Unfortunately, the bad guys are using every avenue possible to try and make contact with this population,” O’Neill said.
The free event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall.
No registration is required and refreshments will be served.
