The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler may soon allow tenants of their rental apartments to have a furry companion.
Current authority policy only permits fish and bird pets in apartments. One dog or one cat are permitted in homes that the authority rents with a security deposit.
The authority is taking a second look at revising that policy after two apartment tenants presented documentation that their children need emotional support cats.
The new policy would likely permit pets in all authority rental properties on a case-by-case basis- pending solicitor review and a security deposit- as well as a to-be-determined pet rent fee to help cover the cost of cleaning and any necessary repairs.
