The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler will look into the possibility of selling a piece of old equipment from the Penn Theater.
Operations Manager Veronica Walker informed the Authority Board of the condition of the theater:
“The unit is vacant. It doesn’t have any heat so it is deteriorating as we speak and its just gonna get worse.”
Given the poor outlook, she is asking authority maintenance workers to remove anything of value including an old projector from the second floor while there is still time to do so.
The projector will be stored somewhere in the authority’s offices below the Tier Garage until it can be appraised and then is expected to be offered for public sale.
The deterioration of the building does not seem to be affecting the two storefronts on either side of the theater which are also owned by the Authority and leased to businesses.
