The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler is moving forward with a couple of street reconstruction projects this summer.
The Authority board first approved a bid proposal from Folino Construction of Oakmont in the amount of $103,000 to reconstruct a portion of Kaufman Drive from Grant Avenue to 80 Kaufman Drive. Work is expected to include removing concrete, putting in pavement base drains, followed by compacted stone and asphalt.
Next, the Authority approved a bid proposal plus four alternate additions from Oakdale-based Independent Enterprises, Incorporated in the amount of just over $205,000 for reconstruction of Euclid, Spang, Sumner, and Cottage Hill Avenues. The alternate portions of this job include 10 curb-ramps to reach ADA compliance but up to 20 property owners may need to grant permission for the work to be done.
The money for these projects will come from 2018 and 2019 Community Development Block Grants through the state Department of Community and Economic Development.
Work is expected to begin as soon as possible with some road closures but only for short periods of time.
