As the process to sell Butler Area Sewer Authority assets to PA American Water continues to be considered by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, officials with the City of Butler are preparing for approval.
After meeting with around six prospective financial advisors, Mayor Bob Dandoy and Director of Accounts and Finance Councilman Don Shearer have requested that three of them present proposals before the next three council meetings.
In an effort to understand more about the services available to the City once the proceeds of the sale are dispersed, each of the unnamed companies will give presentations beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 9th. Mayor Dandoy on the importance of this process:
“We want to be ready to leverage this and use the money wisely,” Dandoy said. “There are careful steps that we have to make because there are things that municipalities are allowed to do and not allowed to do.”
“We want to be ready as soon as the money is ready to come our way. We want to be able to move on it and have it make the impact we think it’ll have in the community,” Dandoy said.
This information does not cost the City and the public will continue to be involved in the process of how the large sum of money will be managed. A Council vote to choose a company could be taken in April.
