The City of Butler’s Jeep is back out on the road and ready for a summer of appearances.
John Pro of the Butler Old Stone House Chapter of the American Antique Car Association provided an update to Butler City Council during a meeting Thursday after his organization took over care of the vehicle in late December.
According to Pro, the group put about 90 hours of work into addressing problems with the vehicle over the course of about six weekends. The group also spent over $500 to get it running correctly again.
Mayor Ben Smith and members of the Butler Police Department were among those who had a chance to go for a ride earlier this month. The city’s Jeep is already registered to appear in the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival later this year and the Festival Committee has pledged to help with some of the expenses from maintaining the vehicle.
