Clarence L. Covert, 77, of Butler, passed away April 22, 2023.
Clarence was born on November 9, 1945, in Butler to the late Raymond W. Covert, Jr. and H. Marie Crispin Covert.
Clarence graduated from Butler High School and served in the United States Air Force before moving west and attending University of Wyoming. He then worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Nevada for a number of years, returning to the Butler area in retirement. Clarence was an avid and knowledgeable outdoorsman. In his younger years he enjoyed racing pigeons and trapping. In his later years he enjoyed bee keeping and rehabilitating his property in Armstrong County. He was passionate about restoring the American Chestnut tree to the local area and was proud to have the property certified as a Pennsylvania Tree Farm.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Wade Covert III. He is survived by his nephew, Raymond W. Covert IV, a great nephew, and a variety of cousins.
There will be no public visitation. Private interment in North Side Cemetery will occur at convenience of the family.
