Clettis John Kiley, 89, of Herman, passed away Fri., April 14, 2023 at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
He was born July 29, 1933 in Herman, a son of the late Lawrence Kiley and Marie Schnur Kiley.
Clettis was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the 16th Armored Engineering Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas, during the Korean Conflict.
Clete’s passion was automotive mechanics. There wasn’t a problem with motors, etc. that he couldn’t figure out. He was well respected in Butler and the surrounding area as a “Go To” resource for automotive mechanics. He truly was a master mechanic.
His work career spanned many years. He worked in the Maintenance Department at Pullman Standard, as a mechanic at Butler Ambulance Service, and he ran his own auto repair business in Herman.
He enjoyed card club, bowling, and traveling with his beloved wife, Marty.
Surviving is his sister Darlene Bailey, of Butler, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Nazar Kiley, who passed away Nov. 24, 2009; eight sisters; and three brothers.
There will be no visitation, and services will be private.
