College Basketball:–Mercyhurst defeated Slippery Rock 83-76 last night in Erie. The Rock has now lost seven of its last nine games on the road against the Lakers. Micah Till led The Rock with 25 points and 13 rebounds for his 17th double-double of the season. SRU is now 18-6 overall, 12-6 in the PSAC and remain in second place with four games remaining in the regular season.
–The SRU women defeated Mercyhurst 68-66 last night. Brooke Hinderliter (Redbank Valley) led The Rock with 18 points and eight rebounds. LeeAnn Gibson (Karns City) added 10 points and five rebounds. The Rock moved 1-1/2 games up on Mercyhurst for the final PSAC playoff spot with four games remaining.
–St. John’s upset #1-ranked Villanova 79-75 last night. It was the Big East conference win for the Red Flash, who are now 12-13 overall, 1-11 in the conference. Villanova fell to 22-2, 9-2 in the Big East.
–Pitt (8-16, 0-11) will visit Clemson (19-4, 8-3) tonight in the ACC- at 7pm.
