Colorado wins wild Stanley Cup Western Conference Final opener

Stanley Cup Playoffs:
–The Colorado Avalanche tied a franchise record for most goals in a playoff game with an 8-6 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 1 of their Western Conference Final Series. Colorado had posted a four-goal lead by the second period, but almost let the lead slip away. They iced the game with an empty-net goal with just over 20 seconds remaining in the game.
–The Eastern Conference Final Series begins tonight at Madison Square Garden at 8pm when the New York Rangers host the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
