Butler County officials are in constant contact with health officials across the area and Commissioner Leslie Osche talked to our newsroom and provided the latest information.
“Hospital officials are still talking about a surge in May, but nothing that the hospital can’t handle,” Osche said. “So we’re going to proceed forward, making sure that we have the alternate care site and making sure that it’s ready to go in case there’s a challenge.”
“I think up until the time that we have a vaccine, there’s always that risk that you have a surge of cases,” Osche added.
Osche says the county is hoping to streamline the government center to make it more efficient and safe for the public.
“You know what it’s like when you come into the government center and have to go up three floors, across a ramp, down a flight of stairs to get a gun permit. It doesn’t make senese” Osche said. “So these were things we were working on that we’ll just speed up a little bit.”
Osche believes it’s important for the county to focus on things they can control.
“I believe us to be resilient community always, because we’ve taken care of ourselves,” Osche said. “So let’s just focus on the things that we can take care of. And all the rest of the stuff that’s spinning around us with the fed and the state, we’ll take it as it comes. But, we’ll have to focus on our own strengths and what we can do here.”
