Communities across the area are getting ready to mark this Memorial Day.
In downtown Butler this morning, a Memorial Day Parade is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. The parade begins at the corner of Penn and Main Street and will go southbound to Diamond Park. Following the parade, there will be a ceremony recognizing fallen veterans at the Diamond.
In Chicora, their annual parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. The parade is organized by the local fire department and will go through Main Street in the borough.
Slippery Rock will be holding a ceremony today at 10 a.m. at the Slippery Rock Cemetery. The event will feature a keynote speech by Lt. Colonel Jennifer Martin.
