Three out of the four state house races in Butler County will have competitive primaries in the newly redrawn districts.
A number of Republican candidates are getting involved in the races, including some who are looking to unseat incumbents.
In the 11th District, incumbent Republican Marci Mustello will seek re-election, but will face Jennifer Steele of Summit Township in the GOP primary.
In the 8th District, Ellwood City native Aaron Bernstine will square off against two other candidates also seeking the redrawn district. Eric DiTullio of Lancaster Township and John Kennedy of Middlesex Township will be on the ballot.
With longtime State Representative Daryl Metcalfe retiring, an open primary in the 12th District has attracted three Republican candidates.
- Scott Timko of Cranberry Township.
- Gregg Semel of Zelienople
- Stephenie Scialabba of Cranberry Township.
The only race without any opposition is State Representative Tim Bonner in the redrawn 17th District.
