The congregation at the synagogue where Robert Bowers is accused of killing 11 people is asking the Department of Justice to negotiate a plea deal.
Congregation Dor Hadash is requesting that the DOJ not seek the death penalty against Bowers and sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney General detailing their position.
The congregation says that they are opposed to capital punishment on religious grounds.
Dor Hadash was one of three congregations holding a service back on October 27th when Bowers shot inside the Tree of Life Synagogue.
The Department of Justice would not comment on the letter. Bowers is currently being held inside the Butler County Prison.
