After having to postpone the Connoquenessing Creek Cleanup last month, organizers are ready to go for this Saturday.
Storms delayed the annual cleanup in late August, forcing organizers to move it to a later date, but Mike Handley of the Allegheny Aquatic Alliance says it’s full steam ahead for pickup tomorrow.
“It looks like we’re going to have a big turnout. We have a lot of different groups coming out. Some that switched their plans and are coming to this one,” Handley said. “I think we’re going to have one of our best turnouts yet.”
This is the 10th year of the Connoquenessing Creek Cleanup. During that time, volunteers have removed over 627,000 pounds of garbage and over 7,000 tires. They will be meeting at the Lick Hill VFD starting at 8 a.m. and expect to begin cleanup around 9 a.m.
