Plans for a new sewage treatment system that will serve many residents of Connoquenessing Township have been halted pending an additional meeting and discussion.
At a Monday night special meeting, the Connoquenessing Township Board of Supervisors approved a motion to meet with the DEP to discuss modification of an expensive plan to roll out sewer service to all township residents. The Supervisors also recommended that the township’s Sewer Authority pause implementation of the plan.
Supervisors heard from over a dozen concerned residents from over 70 who packed the Connoquenessing Fire Hall for the meeting. Issues raised included property destruction, unnecessary expense, and not enough detailed information made available to the public.
The state Department of Environmental Protection is the driving force behind this plan with concerns about certain sewage systems that are not functioning correctly.
