Plans are moving ahead with a new sewage treatment plant that will serve many residents of Connoquenessing Township.
According to Chairman Calvin Wonderly of the Connoqunessing Township Sewer Authority, a site for the plant has been chosen off Welsh Road near the Little Connoquenessing Creek.
The plan is currently moving into the engineering phase which is expected to continue through the rest of this year using money that has been borrowed by the Authority.
The state Department of Environmental Protection is the driving force behind this action with a mandate for the township to construct the plant for residents in the eastern part of the township. The Brandywine sewage plant will no longer operate once the new system is online.
The Authority meets the 4th Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Connoquenessing Township Building.
